Spectrangle Interactive: Gamma Release Issue running running under Windows 2000 and XP Problem: Font problem - Some characters, such as numbers, do not display or are corrupted. Cause: A bug in EGAVGA.BGI (Borland Graphics Library). The version used by S.EXE is dated 1989. This cause of this problem is described at: http://www.talkaboutprogramming.com/group/comp.lang.pascal.borland/messages/96078.html “The problem is not XP but bios related and it is actually a bug in the .BGI file. The EGAVGA.BGI file trusts that the bitmap default font is at a certain location in memory. If it is not it will produce garbage of what is accidently there.” Resolution: Run the software under DOSBox. http://dosbox.sourceforge.net/ http://prdownloads.sourceforge.net/dosbox/DOSBox0.65-win32-installer.exe?download Download DOSBox and install (v0.65 at the time of writing) This is a fairly straight forward procedure. Download and unzip the Spectrangle files into c:\spect\ (for example) If you are not running any other DOS programs then: Add the following lines to the end of the DOSBox.conf (a text file in the DOSBox Program files directory) in the [autoexec] section mount c c:\spect\ c: s Running DOSBox will now automatically invoke Spectrangle.
